Violence Prevention Education
This is a 6-hour workshop for teachers and school counselors at
the middle and high school levels. Topics include anger management,
conflict resolution, stress management, responsible decision making,
and resistance skills. Activities and materials from several evaluated
curricula are shown.
Life Skills Training
This nationally known curricula has been shown to reduce the use
of gateway drugs (tobacco, alcohol, inhalants, marijuana) in all
populations studied. The goal is to reduce risk-taking behavior
by increasing social skills. LST is a middle school program with
booster sessions.
Project TNT (Towards No Tobacco)
Project
TNT has been identified by CDC as a Program That Works in reducing
the use of cigarettes and spit tobacco. Intended for middle school,
this curriculum is a skills approach to prevention that aligns well
with the NC Course of Study in Healthful Living Education.
