Dr. Donna
Breitenstein, Director of the Training Center, has been a leader in
Health Education in North Carolina for many years. As Professor and
Coordinator of Health Education at Appalachian State University, she
has helped prepare teachers since 1975. She has served as president
of the North Carolina Association for the Advancement of Health Education,
as project coordinator for developing the teacher manuals, "Successfully
Teaching High School Health" and "Successfully Teaching Middle School
Health" and on the Governor's School Health Advisory Council. She
was recognized as Most Outstanding University Health Educator in 1994
by the Association for the Advancement of Health Education. In 1999,
she was honored with the Excellence in Teaching award from the UNC
Board of Governors. |

Beth Morris
has served as Administrative Assistant for the Center for eight years
after working for the Watauga County Board of Education and for the
Chancellor of Appalachian State University. She was also the Administrative
Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She plans events, registers
participants, supervises student assistants, orders materials, arranges
for travel for Center staff, and maintains the budget. "Beth's organizational
skills are exceptional," says Breitenstein. "We simply could not maintain
the quality of our programming without her." Beth served as one of the editors of the
"Successfully Teaching Middle School Health" manual. In December 2003 she
was presented an award from NCDHHS, NCAAHE, and NCDPI for "Invaluable
contributions and dedication to he health of North Carolina's youth." |
