The mission of the Division of Adolescent and School
Health of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (DASH)
is to:
- Identify the highest priority health risks among youth
- Monitor the incidence and prevalence of those risks
- Implement national programs to prevent risks
- Evaluate and improve those programs
DASH supports school health training centers in every
state and territory and provides invaluable technical assistance
to North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction and the NC
Comprehensive School Health Training Center. Staff members from
the Center attend several national trainings each year to enhance
their knowledge and skill in health education program delivery.
Dr. Breitenstein, Center Director, has served on two CDC review
panels to identify Programs That Work in HIV prevention and tobacco
use prevention.
